By Plane

The Côte d'Azur airport in Nice, France is recommend because it is the closest to Apricale, has the most international flights, and is convenient to fly in and out of.

Especially if you’re planning to tour other parts of the region before or after Jul 19–21, here are some other smaller yet further-away airports to consider:

INSIDER TIP: See our suggestions for booking sweet airline deals in the FAQs.

By Train

You can get to the region from just about any part of Europe with ease by train. The nearest train station is down the hill in the coastal border town of Ventimiglia. Ventimiglia Stazione is the terminus of 3 major lines:

From Italy

Trenitalia provides 2 service lines:

From France

SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer) provides 1 cross-border line connecting directly to Ventimiglia: Marseille-Nice-Ventimiglia (west–east route)

Rental Cars for Train Travelers: If you plan to rent a car after you arrive to the region by train, the nearest stops with convenient rental car options would be Sanremo, Italy (coming from the east), or Menton, France and Nice, France (coming from the west). There aren’t many convenient rental car providers in Ventimiglia, Italy.

Rental Car - RECOMMENDED!

Driving (or renting) a small rental car is recommended for convenience. While Apricale has a ton to offer, there are many other regional attractions to experience in which a car would come in handy.

To save on costs and because most of the group events take place in Apricale, consider carpooling with your party.

  • Where to Rent: If you fly into Nice Airport, it’s very easy and affordable to rent from there. We’ve received great deals simply by adding a car onto our flight itinerary. See all airport rental car companies.

  • How: To rent a car, all you’ll need is a valid driver’s license issued from the US, your passport, and proof of insurance (proof of coverage or purchase through car rental company). Check with your rental agency for details.

  • Size: Be mindful of the size of your rental car and remember, these are narrow winding mountain roads and parking spots are relatively small. Size does matter: The smaller, the better.

  • Parking: There are a few parking lots as well as street parking along the perimeters of the village. See suggested parking options.

By Bus

Local bus service from Ventimiglia (including the train station) to Apricale is available through Riviera Trasporti, Linea 7. See schedule.

Insider Tip: Your feet will be your main mode of transportation in the village of Apricale. The “roadways” are more like cobblestone paths. Make good shoe choices.
